How many styles are there?
Twelve stages, in four legs: The Grand Prix, The Concours, The Garage and The Strip.
What do I upload?
One photograph of one vehicle: a car, motorcycle, truck, tractor or camper van, whole in frame, three-quarter front if you can, in daylight. Phone photos are fine. Nobody standing in the shot.
What if my photograph is not a vehicle?
It is refused before the engine sees it, and nothing is rendered or counted against your passes. Send one car, motorcycle, truck, tractor or camper van, whole in frame.
Will it still look like my car?
That is the whole brief. The engine is told to keep the make, model and generation, every body line, the wheels and spoke count, the ride height, the colour and the shapes of the badges exactly as photographed, and to paint only the light, the place and the century. Some renders miss: a wheel comes back with a spoke too many, a badge goes soft. That is why looking is free and we print only the one you chose.
Will my number plate show?
No. Plates render blank or illegible on every stage. A plate is an address, and a print hangs where strangers walk past.
Can I be in the picture with the car?
No. No driver, no rider, no passengers, no crowd and no faces: the vehicle is the portrait. A photograph with people in it may still work, because the engine paints them out, but one with nobody in frame works best.
Will the badges and the maker’s name appear?
A badge keeps its shape and its place on the car, but no manufacturer’s wordmark or logo is painted as readable text, and the type desk will not set a maker’s or a race’s name. Those belong to the companies that own them. Your car’s own name, its year and its place are welcome.
Can you paint it crashing, burning or racing wheel to wheel?
Racing, yes, at full speed and in one piece. Crashes, fire, dents and wreckage painted as spectacle, no, and no weapons anywhere in the frame.
How long does a render take?
About ninety seconds, sometimes up to two minutes. The poster lands at 1024 × 1536 and the wide at 1536 × 1024.
What happens to my photograph?
It goes to the engine twice, once for the poster and once for the wide, and is not kept. The render is stored so it can be printed: keep one and it lands on your wall, and write to us at support@painted.app and we delete it.
Do I have to buy the render?
No. Looking is free, and every render is yours to refuse: we only print the one you chose.
What does it cost?
Prints and apparel run from $45 to $600, plus a flat postage set from the printer's own quotes. Looking costs nothing, and the file of your own render is sold on its own.
Who runs Painted Motors?
PaintedApp, LLC, the company behind every Painted studio. Write to support@painted.app, or by post to 1327 SE Tacoma St #394, Portland, OR 97202.
How many renders are free?
Four passes, on the house. A pass is one photograph through the engine, and it comes back twice: the upright poster and the wide. After the four, ten more passes are $10.
How big does it print?
Up to 40 × 60″ on paper and 24 × 36″ on canvas. What you see on screen is what goes to the printer, rebuilt at print resolution the moment you pay.
Where do you ship?
To one hundred and twenty-one countries, from the nearest print house. Postage is a flat rate by size and region, set from the printer's own quotes for the biggest parcel in each size.
Can I cancel an order?
For an hour. A paid print order waits sixty minutes before it goes to the printer, and inside that hour one click on the confirmation page or your wall refunds it in full and nothing is produced. A file is delivered the moment you pay, so it skips the hold.
Can I put words on it?
Yes. The type desk sets your car’s own name, its year and its place in the type of the poster’s decade. Skip it and the painting prints bare. No makers’ names, model names that are trademarks, race or event names, and no real person’s name.
